A medieval fantasy roleplaying game that went through four editions (not counting Chivalry & Sorcery Light). Its ambition was set forth as early as the blurb for the first edition from 1977:
'Chivalry & Sorcery represents the most complete and detailed fantasy role playing game on the market....The world of Chivalry and Sorcery includes laws, customs, social classes, and all that would be found in the feudal setting of a complete fantasy environment.'

An Updated Edition of Chivalry & Sorcery 1st Edition From the introduction: It has been over two decades since C&S first saw the light of day. The first edition was printed in a red cover, which is why this new edition is called Red Book. What follows is a new edition, as we could not simply reprint what had been done in 1977. As much as possible of the original text has been preserved. Chivalry and Sorcery, ‘the rebirth’ is the 4th edition of the classic and notoriously inscrutible mideval simulationist role playing game first written by Simbalist. The fourth edition of C&S, called “The Rebirth” was born a few months later. The result was the return of some medieval references and some gameplay.
